Boxel Parkour: Color Run

Boxel Parkour is a fast-paced, 2D procedural platformer that tests your reflexes across seven distinct difficulty levels. From "Very Easy" to the brutal "Professional" mode, every run is unique thanks to our seeded generation system.

  • Procedural Chunks: Experience dynamic level generation including stairs, gentle hills, moving platforms, and "Mouth Gates".
  • Skill Inventory: Collect and activate powerful items to aid your survival:
    • Spice (W): Boosts your speed and jump height.
    • Mushroom (Shift): Grants a 12-second invincible shield.
    • Float (E): Activates anti-gravity flight for 8 seconds.
  • Checkpoint System: Reach flags to save your progress within a run.
  • Persistence: Your high scores and level completions are saved automatically.
  • Visual Customization: Toggle between vibrant "Colour Mode" and a sleek "Dark Mode" in the settings.
  • Achievements: Track your progress with milestones ranging from "Novice Runner" to "Boxel Grandmaster".

🎮 Controls

  • Jump: SPACE or UP
  • Pause Camera/Stamina: LEFT (Slow down the screen scroll at the cost of stamina)
  • Skills: W (Spice), Shift (Shield), E (Float)
  • Fullscreen: F11 or F
  • Menu/Exit: ESC

Install instructions

🛠️ Installation & Setup

Since this is a standalone portable executable, there is no installer required. Just download and play!

  1. Download the file: Click the download button to get the boxel parkour.exe.
  2. Move to a folder: For the best experience, move the .exe into its own folder (e.g., a folder on your Desktop named "My Games").
    • Note: The game will automatically create a small save file (save_data.txt or score.py) in this folder to keep track of your high scores and progress!
  3. Launch the Game: Double-click the .exe to start your adventure.

Note: Make sure you download the .exe file! Not the .py file, it is the source code!

🛡️ Windows Security Note

Because I am an independent developer, Windows might show a "Windows protected your PC" blue box when you first run the game. Don't worry—this is normal for new indie software!

To bypass this:

  1. Click "More info" on the pop-up.
  2. Click the "Run anyway" button that appears at the bottom.

💻 System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit recommended).
  • Graphics: Any modern integrated graphics (The game is optimized for performance!).
  • Hardware Note: If you are playing on a 2-in-1 laptop like the Lenovo Yoga 7, the game works perfectly in laptop mode with a mouse or trackpad.
